GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Denison University women's basketball team fell 77-64 to Capital University on Wednesday night in nonconference action.

The Big Red got off to a quick start, leading 8-6 early in the first quarter. However, Capital responded with three triples to take a 15-10 lead. The Comets led 25-17 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 10 points (37-27) at halftime.

Denison closed to within four points (39-35) early in the third quarter, but Capital finished the quarter strong, outscoring the Big Red 21-8 to take a 15-point lead (58-43) into the fourth quarter.

The Big Red was unable to overcome the deficit in the fourth quarter and fell 77-64.

Denison was led by Abby Cooch with 13 points and Brooke Toigo with 12 points. Both players made three 3-pointers. Ada Taute added 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Abigail Westmeyer scored seven points and led the Big Red with eight boards.

Capital was led by Laney Murphy with 23 points and Samaree Perkins with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Denison is now 4-2 overall. Capital is now 3-2 overall.
