Huskies Fall to No. 9 Nationally-Ranked Minnesota State-Moorhead in Close Game

The Michigan Tech men's basketball team struggled against ninth-ranked Minnesota Morehead, but ultimately lost 85-77.

HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech Huskies men's basketball team fought valiantly against No. 9 nationally-ranked Minnesota State-Moorhead on Sunday afternoon, but ultimately fell short in an 85-77 loss at the SDC Gym.

The Huskies (1-5, 0-0 GLIAC) trailed by as many as 24 points in the first half, but they battled back to cut the deficit to just two points with under six minutes remaining in the game. However, the Dragons (6-0, 0-0 NSIC) proved to be too much to handle down the stretch, as they made six free throws in the final minute to secure the victory.

Tomashek led the Huskies with 22 points, while Calcaterra added 20 points and six rebounds. Nordgaard and Robarge also chipped in with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Dragons were led by Beeninga's 19 points, while Zimmer added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday, November 29, when they host Finlandia University at 7:00 PM at the SDC Gym.
