BYU outscored Arizona State 77-49. Noah Waterman scored a career-high 24 points to help BYU get off to a good start.

BYU started the game slowly offensively, but they found their shooting touch in a 77-49 blowout win over Arizona State on Thursday night in Las Vegas.

Noah Waterman had a career-high 24 points on 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range and he also had 7 rebounds. BYU shot 14-for-33 from three-point range (42.4%) and outrebounded ASU 51-32. BYU held ASU to 33% shooting and 2-for-20 shooting from deep. BYU led by 15 at halftime and never looked back. Waterman was the only BYU player in double figures, but six other BYU players scored at least six points. 18 of BYU's 27 field goals were assisted.

BYU next plays NC State on Friday night at 8pm MT on ESPN2. NC State is 4-0 on the season after a 84-78 win over Vanderbilt. NC State has talented guards and a massive big man in DJ Burns, so they will be a tough test for BYU.

One thing to watch for BYU is the status of Atiki Ally Atiki and possibly others. Atiki threw a punch at an ASU player with under 40 seconds left in the game and was ejected. Noah Waterman was also ejected after he entered the court from the bench. No other BYU player participated in the fight, but it's worth monitoring what BYU players (if any) are suspended versus NC State. Since Atiki was the only player that participated in the fight, BYU may not have any other players besides him suspended.
